The Adventure has started!!!

We have embarked on our world trip. We got on that plane!!! It's been almost two weeks on the road. So let me catch you up on what's been going on since I gave my last update. Well, we moved out of our house, sold a lot of stuff on Facebook marketplace, and did a lot of second-hand shop and dump runs.

We had to make a house full of the stuff for four people fit in one small storage unit. And lastly, I haven’t mentioned the logistics involved with leaving most things we own like cars, fridges, beds for a year.

This is the storage unit where every thing we own is for the coming year.

Let's begin with the packing stage, we had some removalists help us pack our whole house this helped so much because in one day everything was packed. Everything except the things that we did not want to see in a year or stuff that we didn't want to take up space in our storage unit. We knew if it got packed, we will have to deal with all the stuff again in 12 months time. When we come back we want to start again with a minimal amount of things. The storage unit is for big items we don’t want to buy again in a years time, like our two fridges, one big freezer, a washing machine and all the beds (one king bed and two singles), plus work desks. To separate our items, we put all the stuff we didn’t want to put in storage on our balcony. It was a mess and we were lucky that we had good weather.

The day after packing-day was moving-day but we were living in a hotel nearby because everything was packed except for the stuff we had to unravel on the balcony. But the moving day was quite straightforward except for the fact a lot of moving parts and that the storage unit was in Sydney. Another thing that was a little difficult was that my mum was still working at the time we moved. We still had access to the house for pretty much a week after we actually moved out so we could do maintenance on the house before we handed it back.

This is where I shone with facebook marketplace. I earned $1,130AUD in less than a week with no experience and for me that's quite a lot of money. I sold everything from beanbags to big garage shelves and anything from $10 AUD to $500 AUD. This also helped us start our trip with just a little bit more money in our pockets.

So where are we now? We had a 3 day stopover in Santiago, Chile, and slept a LOT. We ended up staying up for 24 hours in the end, getting to the airport, the flight and not being able to enter the accommodation till later in the afternoon Chile time. This was on top of not sleeping the best for the couple of weeks prior because of the stresses that come with packing up your whole house for a year. So in the end when we got to Santiago and had to wait a couple of hours for our room to become available and once we got in we slept for around 20 hours so safe to say we were TIRED.

After our 3 days of sleeping in Chile, we flew over the Andes at sunrise to Buenos Aires, Argentina which was incredible. I can’t believe that some people on the plane were sleeping, it was such an amazing sight!

A funny thing that happened was when we got out terminal in Buenos Aires there was a soccer team behind us and when we walked out the soccer team's cheer squad started cheering and whistling. We got our own special soccer cheer squad welcome into Argentina.

The next blog will be about our experiences in Buenos Aires so I hope you are excited about that one and I hope you stick around.😄
